The Columbia River Gorge, a secluded haven, lies at the end of a treacherous, moss-laden slot canyon. Intense storms, heavy rainfalls, and gorge flooding from continuous rain provided an ideal opportunity for capture. The scene presented numerous challenges, requiring careful timing, persistence, and a touch of daring. Navigating upstream from the river's mouth was uncertain but necessary. Massive logjams and deep pools necessitated wading chest-high. Safeguarding equipment from water damage was paramount. The only access was through narrow cliff walls, carrying gear overhead. After such a downpour, the sole vantage point was in the stream's center. As water rushed through the gorge, camera visibility was impaired. A few adrenaline-fueled exposures, guided by instinct, captured the essence. Briefly, the sun pierced through, illuminating the canyon walls, adding an ethereal touch. The scene's grandeur is indescribable. What a location, what a feat, what a shot!
